Born in Dülmen, Germany, a small town in the Westphalian region of Germany, on 22 July 1974, Franka was discovered by a casting agent in a restroom of a German nightclub. At age 17, she spent her last year of study as an exchange student in Houston, Texas, and was to return again to finish acting studies, breaking off her training at a Munich drama school to go to the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York.
Her first role in Nach Funf im Urwald for German TV brought the first unveiling of Potente flesh. We first noticed her in the frenetic German art-house worldwide smash movie Run Lola Run and we've been documenting her nudie appearances ever since too. An excellent non-nudie Potente outing to also catch is the atmospheric small budget horror flick Creep.
